Found these photos on the web for an idea:
As the date approaches for Delaney’s puppies, here are just a few bits of information.
I am expecting this to be a small litter, how many is a good question. We won’t know until they arrive. Newborn puppies are very fragile for the first 2 weeks and unfortunately it is not meant to be for some. After the pups arrive and we know how many boys and girls you can let me know your interest in this litter. I totally understand if you choose not to be a part of this I just ask you let me know.
Delaney has been fed a raw diet and will continue this type of diet as long as she is tolerating it and doing well. When the pups are weaning from her, they will be started on a raw diet too. I highly recommend it and I will help you if this is a new concept for you. Unfortunately, many vets will question you and give you a guilt trip about the diet plan but keep in mind many vet practices are supported by the commercial food companies.
Immunizations will be started at a later age than 6 weeks for the health of the puppy. Repeat immunizations are encouraged to be spread out and multiple vaccines at one visit be eliminated. Avoid the use of flea, tick and heartworm, all unnecessary monthly toxic chemicals that will be pushed as requirements.
It is suggested that you find a vet practice supported by holistic/homeopathic therapies.
In Europe ‘routine’ tail docking is illegal and in the USA the practice of tail docking is now optional. The English Springer Field Trial Association recognizes the ‘natural tail’ as a breed standard. The AKC supports the breed standard as the breed club writes it. Judges in conformation are to evaluate a natural tail Springer and a docked tail Springer without prejudice. More and more breeders are supporting the natural tail with their litters. This litter will NOT have tail docking done and the tails will be a natural tail. Dewclaws will be removed.
As a reminder, puppies are not placed as a first come first serve concept but by matching lifestyle and individual puppy temperament. Temperament evaluation is done at 7 weeks so the big reveal of which pup meets your lifestyle happens after their evaluation.
I try to keep frequent updates about puppies posted but please feel free to email or leave comments, I’ll reply asap.
